The flag of Belize is a continued version of the earlier flag of British Honduras (the name of Belize during the British colonial period). The coat of arms recalls the logging industry that first led to British settlement there. The figures, tools, and mahogany tree represent this industry. The national motto, Sub Umbra Floreo, meaning I Flourish in the Shade, is written in the lower part of the coat-of-arms.

GMC Flags of the Nations: Belize
Tuesday, June 26, 2012
Global Ministry Center
Since September 1, 2009, the Church of the Nazarene's Global Ministry Center (GMC) proudly flies a flag each week of one of the many nations in which the denomination is present in ministry. Leaders were invited to send a national flag to be flown at the GMC alongside the flag of the United States*. The national flags rotate weekly, and photos of them raised are sent to the church leaders of that country.
This week: Belize
The Church of the Nazarene officially entered Belize in 1934.
Belize had a population of 321,115 in 2011. That same year, Belize reported 48 Churches of the Nazarene, all of which had been officially organized. Belize has 2,777 total members.
Belize is a Phase 3 district on the Mesoamerica Region.
